About Hayley

The thing that gets in the way is rarely what it looks like.

Human performance consultant. Coach. An athlete who still competes. Twenty years at the intersection of commercial performance and human potential.

I did not set out to become a people professional.

I set out to understand what makes people perform. That question has taken me through twenty years of HR leadership, across FTSE 100 retail, private equity backed and founder led businesses, in Chief People Officer and Head of People roles, and global transformation programmes. It is the same question that drives everything I do now.

What I have come to believe, after working with hundreds of leaders, is that the gap between where someone is and where they want to be is rarely about capability. It is almost always something they cannot quite see in themselves.

I built Inspired Intentions to do the work I find most meaningful. Helping businesses, and the people leading them, perform at a different level by making clear what is getting in the way and giving them something concrete to do about it.

Sport is not a hobby. It is a methodology.

The sports lens

You either perform or you do not.

I train, I race, and I coach others to perform under pressure as a British Triathlon coach. Sport has taught me how to keep moving when it is uncomfortable, how to pace for the long game, and how to trust yourself when nobody else can do it for you.

Sport also strips away the noise. When you are racing there is no hiding behind a process or a meeting. That clarity is what I work to build with every client.

The work behind it

The signals are always there. The reasons are rarely what people assume.

I have built people strategies from scratch, led major transformation, redesigned organisations and sat alongside leadership teams through some of the most complex decisions a business can face.

  • Marks and Spencer
  • Tesco
  • Hastings Direct
  • Office and Offspring
  • White Stuff
  • Rapha

That pattern recognition is what the Drift Index is built on. I work with a small number of clients at any one time, so when we work together you get my full attention.
